Scotch Sour 6 Months ago Karma: 0
My favorite cocktail at home. I sometimes use Jack Daniels for parties, but that would be a Whiskey Sour, wouldn't it?

I basically like any alcohol base mixed with fresh citrus juice and Cointreau. It's a bit pricey though. Suggestions are welcome. No sour mix, please!

1.5 oz Johnny Walker Red Label
1.0 oz Cointreau
1.0 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
0.5 oz Maraschino Cherry Juice
Cherry

OTR.

Sante!

Sounds good - but the recipe is a bit closer to say a Side Car (with scotch instead of brandy of course) or even a Bacardi Cocktail (once again, with scotch).

BTW, if you're wanting to make a good, from scratch sour mix try the following:

1 Part Fresh Lime Juice
1 Part Fresh Lemon Juice
Simple Syrup to tast. Simple syrup can be made by combining half sugar half water and brining to a boil.

Cheers!

While I'm a little off topic from the scotch sour, what whiskey would you recommend for a whiskey sour? I use crown royal, do you have any other recommendations?

Mixing makes my head hurt.

When it comes to a whiskey sour any whiskey will be fine. One of my personal favorites is Buffalo Trace.

Cheers!
